PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Prisma Health's mission is to "Inspire Health," and this mission resonates throughout the design of Prisma Health Baptist Parkridge Hospital. By utilizing system-based support services located off-site, the 76-bed full-service community hospital is focused on patient care areas, designed around the specific needs of the Northwest Columbia community. With a barrier-free, patient focused care model, the hospital makes visitors feel welcome, maximizes their time with caregivers, and inspires health through a connection to nature and patient amenity spaces centered on wellness. The 70 acre campus offers the community access to a leading health care facility committed to improving their physical, emotional, and spiritual health.

This project represents individual work experience of Michael Wenzinger while employed with JHS Architecture.
At Prisma Health Baptist Parkridge Hospital, the patient-focused care model begins while you are still in your car. Great care was placed in the design of the exterior landscape at the hospital, inspiring health as you arrive on campus, as you walk from your car, and as you are welcomed into the building.
After exiting your vehicle, a bioswale and water feature guide you toward the front door.
The entry path offers places to stop and rest before approaching the warm and inviting lobby.
The interior common spaces are designed to feel more like living rooms than waiting rooms, with light-filled spaces to sit, offering a variety of seating options, and always maintaining a connection to nature, with a natural interior finish palette and abundant exterior views.
The chapel offers visitors a place of respite where they can focus on their spiritual well being.
The hospital also offers state-of-the-art medical treatment facilities offering leading medical care for the Northwest Columbia community.
